Colloid mill is a machine used in the disintegration of solid particles or droplet size of a liquid present in suspension or emulsion. The machine consists of an inlet (which is subjected to a tremendous shearing action that affects a time dispersion of uniform size) and an outlet.
Colloid mill works on the rotor-stator principle. The equipment breaks down materials by forming dispersion of material in a liquid. Shearing takes place in a narrow gap between a static cone (the stator) and a rapidly rotating cone (the rotor). To reduce wear, the rotor and stator are constructed using toughened steel or corundum.
The rotor of a colloid mill can differ from one machine to another but the operating principle is the same for all. Each manufacturer incorporates specific features that results in changes in operating efficiency.
COLLOID MILL is suitable for Homogenizing, Emulsifying, Dispersing, Mixing, and Comminuting of liquids to highly viscous products. It is based on rotor and stator principle. It.s available in plain as well as water jacketed model which is suitable for heat sensitive product. In your case as required the machine will be of water jacketed type.
Operation
Product is feed to the operating area of a rotor, having the speed of 3000 rpm. By specially designed feed device. The product is processed by high shear, pressure and friction between the stator and rotor, and also subjected to intense vibration which exerts their force on it by means of pressing and releasing action. Due to the slightly deviating tearing of the milling surface of the stator and rotor, the angular gap becomes narrower towards the discharge section. This processed product continuously leaves the mill through the drain pipe, if required, it can be re circulated.
